Chapter 6

(Catherine’s POV)

“Hey guys, looks like I am going out tonight too!”

“Cool, where you going?” Marissa asked.

“I don’t know, Zac said it was a surprise.”

“Oh, that’s nice.”

“Where are you guys going?”

“Code Red”

“Lucky, I heard it was really fun.”

Marissa was on the couch fiddling through some papers, she stopped what she was doing and looked over at Liz

“Hey, if I don’t like this guy I am getting hooked up with, I am leaving.”

“Well my friend said that this person was quite charming, and a good-looking guy. So whoever he brings should fit that persona as well. At least I hope.”

(7:45pm) (Hanson House)

“Okay guys, I am going to pick up Catherine!” Zac said, walking towards the front door.

“Where should we meet up at?” Isaac asked

“I don’t know we’ll just see each other inside I guess. I’ll take the car and you guys can have the limo.”

Alright, bye

A few minutes later, Taylor and Isaac walked outside and got in the limo.

(Catherine’s POV)

You guys look great! I said, as Marissa and Liz walked into the living room.

"I know right?" Marissa said, with a smirk.

"I hope I like this guy...I am nervous. I hate blind dates." Liz said, brushing away the hair from her eyes.

I am sure you will. If not, you can just be like "yo I got to go and…wait a minute, what happened to that guy you were seeing, Adam?”

“Things didn’t work out.”

“Oh, well anyway just make up an excuse to leave if he’s really bad.”

"Man if my guy is ugly, I am walking out 2 minutes after I walk in." Marissa said, admiring her fingernails.

I bet you would, I said as I grabbed my shoes and began putting them on.

(Doorbell)

Zac's here, I'll see you guys later. Don't wait up! I said, heading towards the front door.

"Yeah, we should leave to." Marissa said to Liz.

They both got up and walked out of the house, locking the door behind them.

Me and Zac arrived at the Code Red.

“Haha, wow” I said shaking my head.

“What?”

“This is where Liz and Marissa are going tonight.”

“Oh really? Is that ok, or do you want to go somewhere else?”

“No its fine, I actually wanted to go here.”

Zac and I walked inside and headed towards the bar.

"We'll my brothers are here too. They invited us, so I thought that would be fun."

Really? That's great; I haven’t really got a chance to hang out with them.

"Yeah, that’s what I figured." Zac said, heading towards an empty table near the bar.

"They should be here any minute."

There they are, I said pointing to the entrance doors.

I'll go get them, Zac said standing up.
I watched as he headed towards Isaac and Taylor. They all walked over to the table and sat down.

Is it just us, or do you guys have dates? I asked, looking at Taylor and Issac.

"There supposed to meet us here." Isaac answered, nervously.

"Yeah, Isaac has a blind date and she's bringing a friend." Taylor explained.

Oh that's funny, Liz has one too.

"Liz?" Isaac said, puzzled.

Yeah, my roommate you met at my birthday party.

"Oh yeah, she was pretty." Isaac said, smiling to himself.

"My cell phone is going off, excuse me." Isaac said, as he stood up and headed towards a spot where he could hear more clearly.

(Isaacs’ POV)

--

"Yeah, hi. I am sitting at the bar. I'm wearing a dark green suit and a white tie."

"Yeah I see you, I think. Wave your hand, so I can be sure."

Isaac smiled and raised one of his hands.

"Yep, I see you. I'll be right over."

--

"He looks like Isaac" Marissa whispered to Liz.

"Yeah he does...oh no, it is Isaac."

"No way!" Marissa said laughing.

Isaac's mouth dropped when he realized who it was.

"What a small world" Isaac said, giving Liz a hug.

"You set me up with Taylor didn't you?" Marissa said crossing her arms.

"Yeah...is that bad?" Isaac said, worried.

"I guess not, where is he?" Marissa asked.

Well you're not going to believe this, follow me.

Isaac walked over to our table and I looked up and saw Marissa and Liz behind him.
No way, Isaac was your blind date? I said to Liz when she got to the table.

"Looks like it"

Well sit down, I said excitedly.

Marissa went next to Taylor and sat down and Isaac pulled out a chair for Liz.

Well what do you like to do in your spare time? I asked Taylor.

Isaac turned and looked at Taylor with his eyes wide open, afraid of what he might say.

"Well...” Taylor said, smirking at Isaac "There's partying of course, but I also like to be alone. To write, and get away from all the issues I have to deal with."

Yeah, I know how that is.

We all talked for a couple of hours, and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Taylor kept hitting on Marissa, and she was pretending she didn't like it, but I can tell she was enjoying every minute of it. Isaac and Liz were out on the dance floor and Zac kept the drinks coming, and coming.

He keeps telling me I have a run in my pantyhose, and I should fix it before he investigates the matter. He's so funny when he's drunk; he keeps laughing at himself, and slapping my shoulder saying
"Man that was a good one!"

We left the club a few of hours later, the guys asked us to come back to their place.

Liz and Marissa followed behind us till we pulled up to the front gate, and Taylor leaned out the car window to type in the pass code. We parked our cars and headed inside. "You guys can wait for us in the living room" Isaac said, indicating that they wanted to have a man chat.

So Me, Marissa, and Liz all went into the living room and made ourselves comfortable.

(Hanson POV)

Zac pulled out his cell phone and saw he had a missed call from an unknown number.  He listened to it as Taylor and Isaac were talking.

“What the fuck…”

Taylor and Isaac looked at Zac confused.

“Listen to this message guys” Zac said as he put his cell on speaker phone.

--
Message left 9:45 pm…beep

You mother fucker, you better stay away from her! I am watching your every move, and if you don't stop seeing her you'll be sorry Zac.

--

"Do you have any idea who that was?" Isaac asked, concerned.

"No...but I bet Catherine does."

"Yeah, want me to bring her in here?" Taylor asked.

"Umm...I don't want to worry her; I'm going to figure it out myself. Lets just pretend like nothing happened okay?"

"Whatever you say..." Isaac said, frowning.

Zac knew Catherine should hear the message, but he didn't want her to stop seeing him.

They all came into the living room, and sat next to us.

“You sobering up Zac, did you get yourself some water?”

"You're pretty" he said, fiddling with my hair.

Thanks...I whispered. I’m going to get you some water and then we can watch a movie while you lay down or something.

"You should lay with me" Zac said, grinning.

“I am going to lay with you.”

"You should stay..."

“Zac I am going to stay.”

“Will you?”

I rolled my eyes; “yes I’ll stay just for you.”

“What are you guys going to do?” I asked standing up.

“Do you guys like board games?” Isaac asked opening the closet full of games.

“Aw, I love board games. Oh well, I’m sure we can do this another time too.”

“Yeah defiantly” Isaac said pulling out one of the games.

I went to the kitchen and got Zac a glass of water and asked Isaac where his room was. I went inside and saw him lying on his back with the TV on.

(We talked for about an hour and a half, until he passed out.)

I stood up and walked out of him room, turning the light off as I left.
As I was leaving, I overheard Taylor and Isaac talking in another room. I walked closer to the room, just to see if they were saying anything bad about me.

"You think they're doing anything in there?" Taylor asked Isaac, curiously.

"Nah, I don’t think Cat would do anything this soon."

“You tell him Isaac,” I whispered to myself.

"Well, I think they're doing something..." Taylor said, convincing himself.

"Whatever you say..."

I decided it wasn't nice to ease drop so I causally slipped in the room, pretending I hadn't heard a word they said.

"Hey guys...Zac's sleeping, I'm out of here."

"Oh Cat...hey...alright that's cool." Taylor said, trying to keep a calm attitude.
Isaac smiled, and gave me a hug goodbye.

"It was nice to hang out with you for longer than 5 minutes."

“Yeah, we should do it again sometime...bye guys.”

As I was walking out the door, I realized that Marissa and Liz had left without me.

"Oh crap, that's great..." I walked back into the room where Isaac and Taylor were.

Um guys...Marissa and Liz left without me.

"Oh crap we didn’t even think about that. You can stay here tonight; I promise I won’t touch you." Isaac said, smiling.

“Heh, thanks. I'll sleep on the couch or something.”

"Why don't you sleep with Zac?" Taylor asked.

“Um, I think that would be kind of weird.”

"You can sleep with me..." Taylor said, grinning.

“Heh, right...let me get back to you on that.”

"I'll get you a pillow and a blanket." Isaac said, walking out of the room.

“Thanks.”

Isaac left the room, and Taylor was eyeing me as if he had something important to ask.

“So...”

"Hey, you think Marissa is into me?"

“Sure.”

"Sure? heh, well that’s reassuring."

“Heh, well...you never know what she's thinking. What about you? Are you into her?”

"She's hot."

“Uh huh…”

“Yeah...”

Isaac walked back into the room.

"I set the couch up for you."

“Thanks Isaac.”

(Next Day)

I woke up, stretching myself across the couch. I looked around to see if anyone was there. No one was around, so I tried to find the bathroom before anyone saw my morning self. I found the bathroom, and tidied myself up a bit.

When I came out, I folded the blanket on the couch, and put the pillow on top of it. I grabbed my purse off the kitchen counter, as I dug through it looking for my cell phone.
“They better be awake…”

--

“Hello?” Liz answered, cheerfully.

“Hey Liz…”

“Catherine hey, what’s up?”

“…nothing, can you come get me?”

“Where are you?”

“Zac’s house”

“…how did you get there?”

“Ya’ll left me here!”

“…Oh, I am so sorry.”

“Its fine, I slept on the couch.”

“Why didn’t you sleep with Zac?”

“Just pick me up, please?”

“Yeah sure, I’ll be there in about 15 minutes.”

“Okay bye.”

--

I hung up the phone, and stuck it back in my purse. I walked into Zac’s room, and shut the door behind me. He wasn’t on his bed, so I figured he was taking a shower. I walked to the bathroom door, and knocked.

“Yeah?” Zac said, turning off the water.
Hey Zac, it’s Catherine.
“Catherine? What are you doing here? Hold on, let me open the door.”

Zac walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist.

“Hey Cat, let me put some clothes on.”

He went over to his dresser to grab some boxers out of it, and turned to look at me.

“Would you mind turning around while I put these on?” he said smiling.

“I don’t mind watching”, I said playfully.

He took that as a challenge and dropped his towel on the floor. My face turned bright red. I could only see his butt, but what a butt! He put his boxers on, and walked to his closet. Now I have mental picture in my head that won’t go away, it was great. I walked over to him, feeling a little awkward.

“I can’t believe you just did that.”

“You said you wanted to watch” Zac said smirking.

“So …last night was fun. ”

“Yeah, I think I drank too much tho”

“Yeah, I noticed…”

“Did you drive here?”

“No I’ve been here since last night. Marissa and Liz left me.

“Haha, really?”

“Yep. ”

“Did I say anything bad when I was drunk?”

“No…but you were trying to sleep with me. ”

“What? Get outta here, I was not.”

You were too! You were like “Oh Catherine, sleep with me now!”

“Really…I’m so sorry….”

No not really, but you were trying to feel me up.

“Oh, well that sounds about right. In fact I want to do that right now!”

He picked me up, and pinned me to the bed. I struggled to get free, but I did not realize how strong he was.

“Hey, let go of me!” I said, trying to loosen his grip.

He let go of one of my arms, and started moving his hand across my body. I realized we haven’t kissed yet, which made me look at his lips with anticipation. I wanted to feel his lips on mine. With my free arm, I pulled his head closer and bit his bottom lip. As I kissed just his bottom lip I could tell he was growing impatient. He wanted my lips as much as I wanted his. After a few seconds, he leaned down for more. He stuck his tongue in my mouth, and thrusted his pelvis between my legs. A couple minutes later, I heard a knock on the door and Zac released his grip.

I think Liz is here…I said, out of breath from excitement.

“Oh…um…”

Zac got off the bed, and helped me up.

“Well I have some things to do tomorrow, but do you want to hang out the next day?”

“Yeah, that sounds fun.” I said, smiling.
“Catherine, Liz is here!” Isaac yelled from the living room.

“Okay, I’ll be right out!”

“Well, I’ll see you in a couple days.” I said walking to the door.

“I had fun.”

“Me too,” he said, as I went into the living room where Liz and Isaac were standing.

“Hey girl, you ready?” Liz said smiling.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

”I’ll call you tonight.” Isaac said to Liz, giving her a hug goodbye.

“Okay, see you later.”

“Give Zac a kiss for me.” I said to Isaac, smirking.

“Uh, yeah…I don’t think so.”

I laughed as me and Liz walked out the front door.

We arrived home, and I went into my room to lie on my bed. I couldn’t stop from smiling; our first kiss was so great. It was like one of those special kisses you see in movies. The phone rings; interrupting my thoughts…

“Catherine, phone!” Liz yelled from the living room.

--

“Got it, Hello?”
“Yes, Catherine Ice?”

“Yes.”

“How are you doing ma’am?”

“Very good, thanks.”

“My names Trent Anderson and I am calling about the job at Sir McKee’s Industries.”

“…McKee’s? Oh yeah…”

“Are you still interested?”

“Yes.”

“Great, when can you start? Michaels told us a lot about you.”

“As soon as possible”

“Well if you come in today, I can show you around and show you
what you’ll be doing.”

“Okay, that sounds great.”

“Come in anytime before 9:00 pm.”

“Okay, see you there. Thank you Mr. Anderson”

“You’re welcome, see you soon.”

--

I hung up the phone, and went into the bathroom. I started running the water, while pouring some bubble soap in the tub. I took off my dress, and lowered myself slowly in the water. I lay there soaking up the heat. I hope I’ll like the job. I felt kind of nervous, it being my first day and all. I hope Michael is off today, don’t want to be bothered by him.

(An Hour Later)

I was dressed and ready to head out the door. I said bye to Liz, and headed towards my car. It only took about ten minutes to get there. I parked the car, and headed inside the building. I walked up to the front desk, and rang the bell. A woman walked out from the back, and came up to me. According to her nameplate, her name is Trish.

“How may I help you?” She asked politely.

“I have an appointment with Trent Anderson.” I said smiling.

“Name please?”

“Catherine Ice.”

“That’s a unique last name,” she said picking up the phone.

“Mr. Anderson, there’s a Miss Catherine Ice to see you.”

“Tell her I’ll be right out.”

“Sure thing”

“He said he’ll be right out. You can take a seat if you want.”

“Thank you.”

I headed towards one of the couches and sat down. It was a nice looking building. It was only one story, but it was big.

About five minutes later, Trent came out of his office and into the waiting room where I was sitting.

“Catherine? Hi, it’s nice to meet you.”

He said, reaching his hand to shake mine. He took me around and showed me where I would be working. I had my own little semi office. I looked at the name plate on the desk closest to mine. Michael Johnson.

“Oh, for some reason I thought I would be your secretary.”

“…Michael didn’t tell you? He recommended you for himself.”
Trent said, confused.

“Ah, is that so?” I said, letting out a sigh.

“You know…you don’t have to work here if you don’t want to. I am not trying to get rid of you or anything, because you seem talented. I just want to do what is best for you. You can work here for a week, with pay, and see if you want to stay here or not.”

“Really, you would actually do that? Most companies have an interview first, and you just gave me the job without even talking to me. Now you’re saying I can have a trial run, that’s really nice of you.”

“Well I don’t normally do this, but Michael told me all about your previous experience and I’m really just doing a favor for him.”

“Yeah, that’s still very nice of you.”

“Can I ask you a personal question?”

“Yeah sure” I said, a little scared.

“Does Michael still like you or something? He seemed pretty persistent to get you here.”

“Yes, he does. That is why I didn’t want to take the job, but this is something I want to do so I went for it.” I said, trying not to sound selfish.

“Well you can give me a call tomorrow and tell me what you have decided. You do not need to tell me right now. Does that seem okay to you?”

“Yes, thank you very much.”

“Okay great, I’ll walk you to the front.”

As I was walking behind him, I could not help thinking about what Trent said; Michael was persistent to get me to work for him. Maybe this is not a good idea. We arrived at the front, and he shook my hand, and walked back to his office.

I walked outside, got into the car and headed home. When I arrived, I pulled into the driveway, locked the car doors, and walked in the house.

When I walked in, Liz was in the kitchen drying the dishes she just washed. I passed Liz without acknowledgement, and sat on the nearest couch in the living room.

“Where did you go?” Liz said, from across the room.

“I went to the place where Michael works.”

“You went to see Michael?”

“No, I got offered a job but after going I found out that I wouldn’t just be a secretary. I would be Michael’s secretary.”

“Really, that sucks. Are you still going to take the job?”

“Well Trent, the boss, said that I could work there for a week and see what I think. I think I am going to do that. Plus, I get some money!”

“It’s not like you need money, your parents set you up for life.”

“Yeah, but I want to make money on my own. I don’t want to depend on someone else.”

“Yeah, I understand.” Liz said, pouring herself a drink.

“When does Marissa get home? Has she called you?”

“Yeah, she is coming home early. She should be here any minute.”

“Cool, we should do something.”

“Oh, I have a date with Isaac tonight.” Liz said, smiling to herself.

“Oh I see…well, me and Marissa will just hang out.”

“Sorry…”

“No, I want you two to hang out. I never would have thought you would consider being with a Hanson brother. I think it’s wonderful.” I said, smiling.

“Pfft, you never thought I would. I never thought I would.”

“Yeah, but I guess I was right. The Hanson brothers are lookin fine!”

After a couple of minutes, I went into my room, and shut the door behind me. I layed down on the bed, and closed my eyes. Everything was happening so fast. Zac and I are so happy, but Michael has to ruin it. This job sounds so cool, but Michael has to ruin it.

I hear the phone ringing…
“Catherine, it’s Michael,” Liz yelled from her room.

“And when I’m trying to have alone time, Michael has to ruin it!”

--
“Yes Michael?”

“Hey Cat, you okay?”

“Just peachy” I said sarcastically.

“Uh, okay…”
“You didn’t tell me I was going to be your secretary Michael.”

“Oh, I am sorry. Since we were friends now, I didn’t think you would care.”

“Well it’s a little awkward since you like me and all, don’t you think?”

“Not really, I’ll get over it. I know you’re seeing someone.”

“…okay.”

“Well anyway, how are things going with you two?”

“I don’t feel like talking about this with you.”

“Why, it’s not like you guys are fucking or anything right?”

“If we are, it’s none of your concern.”

“…you’re fucking him? You have got to be kidding.”

“Yeah Michael, I am fucking him, and its 10 times better than anything I ever did with you.”

“…”

--

“Yeah, hang up on me, real mature.”

Liz came in my room, wondering why I was yelling.

“What’s going on?” Liz said, concerned.

“I just told Michael that me and Zac are having sex.”

“What? You are?”

“No, I just told him that to make him mad.”

“I don’t think that was wise.”

“Man, what’s he gonna do?”

”I don’t know…”

“Exactly, nothing at all”

Liz left the room, and I laid back down on my bed. That probably wasn’t the best thing to say to Michael. Hopefully now he’ll get over me, and move on to someone else. I feel sorry for the next person.

(An Hour Later)

Marissa walked in the house and set her purse down on the chairs surrounding the kitchen counter.

“What’s Cat doing?” Marissa asked Liz, curiously

“She’s still in her room I am guessing. She wanted to be alone, you know how she is.” Liz responded.

“Yeah, well I want to get drunk tonight. I’m going to see if she wants to.”
