Chapter 1

"No no no no no!" I said, throwing the newspaper across the room.
"Oh Catherine, there must be something in the paper you would be good at. You barely even looked at it! I’ll read some off for you.” Marissa said, picking up the newspaper from the floor.

She glanced through the job listings, suggesting some that might interest me.
"What about...a journalist?"
"Nah." I said, waiting for her to mention another one.
"Um...how about a secretary or something like that?" she asked.
"I didn’t see that in there!” I said, walking towards Marissa. I took the newspaper from her hand, and looked at the information on that job.
"So you have experience?" she asked, not having any knowledge of myself ever being, or mentioning anything about a secretary job before.
"Yeah, I used to be one when I lived in North Carolina. I’m going to call and see if the job is still open.”
I said, picking up the phone in the kitchen.

--_--
"Jobs for You” This is Debra, how may I help you?"
"Yes, I called about the secretary job in the newspaper."
"Name"
"Catherine Ice."
“Alright, and how old are you?”
“Twenty five”
"Okay Catherine, we have an opening tomorrow at 8am…”
“Oh thank you.”
“The address is 2182 Alpine Dr. across from Greenway Street. Make sure you show up at least fifteen minutes early to fill out some paperwork.”
"Okay I will"
"Is there any questions you have?”
“Nope”
“Okay, you have a nice day."
“you too”
--_--

"I got an interview tomorrow at 8!" I said excitedly, as I put the newspaper on the kitchen counter.
"Really, that's so awesome! I wonder who you’re going to be a secretary for..." Marissa said, as she turned the TV on, and started flipping through the channels.
"I didn't get the job yet Marissa." I said, walking towards the bedroom.
"You know you’re going to get it, you always do well at interviews."
“But that’s because the people who interview me, like the way I look.”  I shouted from the bedroom.
“Well you’re probably right about that one” Marissa said chuckling.
“What are you doing anyway?”
"I’m picking out something to wear for the interview tomorrow." I said, searching through my closet.
"Oh let me help!” Marissa said, coming into the bedroom.
We finally found something we both agreed on. It was conservative, yet intriguing at the same time.
"Black is definitely your color." Marissa said, sure of herself.
"Why thank you, but I am sure anyone can pull it off." I said, putting the dress back on the hanger, and sticking it in the closet.
"Um, I don't think so." Marissa said, looking at me like I was crazy.
"Are you hungry yet?" I asked, looking at the clock on my dresser.
"Well that depends…" Marissa said smiling.
I knew she was going to say something stupid, so I rolled my eyes and smiled before I knew what it was.
“On?” I asked sarcastically.
"Three things…where are we going, who are we going with, and what are we going to do after we eat?" Marissa said with a smirk.
"You’re really something, you know that. How about we just go together?" I suggested.
"Just me and you?" Marissa said, acting like she was disappointed.
"Well thanks. I love you too." I said, giving her a shove.
"You know I don’t care, I was just kidding. Besides, we can check out the guys while we’re there. By the way, where are we going?" Marissa asked.
"Well let’s see...a place where you find a lot of guys..."
"Da-zules" We both said, with a smirk knowing it’s the best bar in town.

(At The Restaurant)

“No way, he’s not my type.” Marissa said, staring at the guy across the table from us.
“And why not, he looks real nice!”
“You don’t even know this guy!” Marissa said defensively.
“Yeah well, neither do you.”
“I…”
Marissa couldn’t find anything to say back to me. This was a first on her part.
“I am just messing with you, but really, you should be more…accepting.”
Marissa stared at me, confused.
“Accepting?” she asked.
“You know what I mean, like…getting involved with guys who are not just interested in your body.”
Feeling a little uncomfortable, I picked up my burger, and took a bite. Trying to avoid any argument my comment might have caused.
“I know what you mean, but I just can’t find that type of guy.” Marissa said, folding her arms against her chest.
“So I might as well look for what I can have, and enjoy it while it lasts.” she said, staring at the guy across from us again.
“It shouldn’t be like that Marissa.”
I noticed her trying to dodge my eyes. She always does that when she’s upset.
I’ve tried to make her understand before, but she doesn’t want to hear what I have to say.
It’s like she blocks everything out.
“What about you? You need someone too. How long has it been since you’ve went out on a date?” she asked.
“I haven’t been with anyone since Michael, and you know what that was like.”  I said, letting out a sigh.
“Hell on earth?” she asked questionably.
“Words can’t describe how bad.”
I saw two men walking towards us out the corner of my eye.
“Oh no…Marissa look, 10 O’clock.” I said with a wink.
“What, 10 O’clock? What are you talking about?” she asked, and then frowned when she saw me roll my eyes.
The two men approached us, and introduced themselves.
“Tom and Ryan huh? Well I’m Catherine, and this is Marissa. Thank you guys for coming over, but if you are attempting to hit on us, now is not the time. I suggest you walk back to where you were.”
“Or what, what could you two possibly do that’s so bad?” Ryan said with a smirk.
“We aren’t interested, please leave us alone.”
“Not interested huh? What about you pretty lady?” Ryan asked, turning his attention to Marissa.
Marissa frowned and looked sharply at the two men.”You’re bothering us. Please leave.”
“Oh…feisty aren’t ya? Come on; let us buy you a drink.”
I pulled out my cell phone, and quickly dialed a number.
“Oh no, she must be calling her boyfriend.” Tom said sarcastically.
“Hello, Hank? Would you mind helping me out at table three?” I said, motioning to Hank who was behind the bar.
“Water works?” he asked.
“You know it, thanks a bunch.” I hung up the phone, and stuck it back in my purse. Hank took out the faucet behind the bar, and sprayed the two men.
The security guards that were out front quickly rushed over and grabbed the two men to escorted them out.
“It serves them right.” I said, smiling at Hank.
“What happened to giving guys a chance?” Marissa asked, trying not to laugh.
“I didn’t mean those guys, I meant the nice ones!” I said, defensively.
“Ok you’re right. So, you ready or what?”
“Yeah, I have to call Michael anyway.”  Marissa and I stood up and headed towards the car.
“Why do you still talk to him?” she asked concerned.
“You know I can’t stay mad at anyone. It’s not like I am dating him anymore.”
When we got to the car, I unlocked the doors, and we both got inside.
“But he slept with one of your good friends.” Marissa said, lowering her head.
“She obviously wasn’t one of my good friends.” I said, starting up the car.
I didn’t want to listen to the rest of Marissa’s argument, so we drove the rest of the way in silence. When we arrived at the house, we got out, and I locked the car doors as we headed inside.
“I didn’t mean to say anything, but I just don’t want you to get hurt again.”
Marissa said, as we walked into the house.
“It’s ok, I understand. Michael is still one of my friends though, and I don’t feel for him like that anymore. So I don’t think it matters if we are friends or not, but anyway, why isn’t Liz home yet? She usually gets here around eight, and it’s almost 9 o’clock.
“She’s probably on another date.” Marissa said, heading towards the restroom.
“Yeah, you’re probably right…oh, I have to call Michael.”  I walked into the kitchen, and picked up the phone.

--_--
“Hello?”
“Michael? It’s Catherine.”
“Hey Catherine, how are you?”
“Fine, and you?”
“I’m pretty good.”
“What did you want to talk to me about?”
“I have a job for you, if you’re interested.”
“Oh really…I have a job interview tomorrow.”
“You do? For what?”
“A secretary job.”
“Really?”
“Yep, hopefully I get it.”
“Where is it at?”
“A place called Jobs For You.”
“Oh, that’s cool. But yeah, the job I thought you might like is also a secretary job.”
“Is the pay good?”
“Yeah, and it’s in the same building I’m in.”
“Oh it is…well that sounds cool. Can I give you a call if the interview doesn’t work out?”
“Yeah, I’m sure my boss would love to have someone as experienced as you are, on our staff.”
“Thanks Michael. Hey, I’m going to go watch a movie, so I will talk to you later ok?”
“Alright, that’s cool. Hey, how is Marissa doing?”
“She’s good, she has another photo shoot tomorrow. She is going to get paid!”
“She’s still with Victoria Secret?”
“Yeah, she loves modeling lingerie.”
“I’m sure the guys love it too.”
“Heh, yeah”
“Well ok, tell her I said hi, and talk to you later.”
“Ok, bye.”
“Love you.”
“Umm ok…bye.”
--_--

I hung up the phone slowly. Why does he still say that to me? It makes me very uncomfortable! I told him once before to stop, and he never listens.
I didn’t notice I was in deep thought just staring at the phone in the kitchen. I looked at Marissa to see if she noticed, but she was still flipping through the tv trying to find the right channel it has to be on for the movie to play.  I snapped back to reality and joined Marissa on the couch.
“Michael said hi.” I mentioned, hesitantly.
“Oh really, I heard you talking about me” she said, smiling.
“Well, who wouldn’t talk about you? I mean come on.”
I heard the door open slightly, and turned around to see who it was. Liz was standing with some guy I didn’t know.
I wonder who that is, I thought to myself.
“Hey guys, come here for a minute. I want you to meet someone.” Liz said, motioning us to walk over to her.  Me and Marissa glanced at each other, and then walked outside.
“Adam, this is Catherine and Marissa.” I shook his hand, and smiled.
“I met Adam at the coffee shop down the street. We’ve been seeing each other for about a week now”.
“You’ve been dating for a week? Why didn’t you tell us?” Marissa asked, kind of shocked.
“Well, I didn’t want to say anything until I was sure we were going together.” She said, forcing a smile.
“Uh, it was nice to meet you Adam.” I said, trying to interrupt their argument.
“We’ll leave you two alone, unless he wants to stay and watch a movie with us.”
Liz looked at Adam. “You want to?”
He looked at Marissa and me.
“Uh, whatever you want.” He said, hesitantly.
“Well come on in.”
Everyone walked into the apartment, and we picked out a movie and stuck it in.

(About 2 Hours Later)

“Well, I’m going to bed. I have an interview tomorrow.” I said heading towards the bedroom.
“Interview?” Liz asked, surprised.
“Yep, for this secretary job in the newspaper”
“Oh, call me tomorrow and tell me how it goes.” Liz said, smiling.
“Ok, night guys. Nice to meet you Adam”
“Night, don’t let the Marissa’s bite!” Liz said, laughing.
Marissa looked at Liz and rolled her eyes.
“That was really stupid.”

I shook my head, and headed towards my room.

Chapter 2

When I heard the alarm go off, I buried my face into a pillow. I knew I had to get up, but I just didn’t want to. Finally, I forced myself to take a shower and get dressed. After I put my makeup on, I headed out the door. Can’t be late for your interview, I said to myself.
When I arrived at the place, I went inside. Everyone stared as I walked by. I never felt so uncomfortable in my life.
“Everyone waiting for an interview, would you please take a seat? We will be riht with you…”
“I hate it when they say that. Right with you my ass.” I said, trying to get comfortable.
After an hour, I heard my name being called. I went into the office, and the manager told me to have a seat.

--_--
“Hello, you must be Catherine Ice.”
“Yes, how are you?”
“Good, I am really good. My name is Mr. Moore. Have you had any experience in this field?”
Wow he got right to the point, I thought to myself.
“Um yes, I used to work at Johnson’s. But I moved, so I had to quit.”
“You used to work at Johnson’s? Wow, very impressive.”
“That’s what they tell me.”
--_--

I spent about thirty minutes in his office discussing what policies he enforces, and how he likes to have his work done. After awhile he told me he’d give me a call to let me know if I got the job. He seemed to like me a lot.
I shook his hand and walked out the door. As I was leaving, I saw this well dressed women walking into the building. Everything she wore looked like it costs more than five hundred dollars.  She didn’t look like someone I would have seen there.
I wonder who that was.
When I got home, I headed straight for the bedroom. I was tired, and no one was going to wake me up.
A couple hours later, I heard the doorbell, and I slowly got out of bed.
Who could that be? I looked in the hallway mirror to see if I was presentable, and then I answered the door.

“Michael, what are you doing here?” I asked, grabbing my robe off the chair.
“Well, I was on my way home, and I thought I’d stop by.
“Oh, well come on in.” I went into the living room with him following close behind.
“Just getting up?” He said, noticing my lingerie.
“Ha yeah, I was tired…did you want anything to drink?” I asked, trying to change the subject.

The thoughts of us waking up next to each other were coming back into my head. I can’t keep thinking about that.

“No, that’s ok. You look so pretty, did you do something with your hair?” He asked, leering at me.
“I just let it down, nothing new.”
I felt really uncomfortable with him watching me. Why is he looking at me like that? I wonder what he is thinking about.
“Hey Cat, I got to go ok? I will call you later tonight. I just wanted to see you.” He said, giving me a hug.
“Oh ok, see you later.”
He didn't stay long, I thought to myself. I went to the window, and watched him get into his car.
He looked nice today; I haven’t seen him in along time. What the hell, what am I talking about? Me and him are over, non existent. I think I need some help.

(Michael’s POV)

“Only a couple more weeks left.” He said, smiling at the computer. Michael grabbed the phone and dialed a number.
“Hey babe, you want to have dinner tonight?”
“Sure, I’d love to see you again.”
“Alright, pick you up at eight.”
“I look forward to it.”

(Catherine’s POV)

Six Hours Later… (6:00 pm)

“Liz, you’re home!” I walked over to her and gave her a hug.
“Well yeah, I live here don’t I?” she said, confused.
“Well, you’re always out.” I said, frowning.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you wanted to see me.” I grabbed Liz and pulled her to the couch.
“I have to talk to you.” I said, as I sat down.
“About what, you’re not pregnant are you?” she asked, concerned.
“What, no! Who would have got me pregnant?”
“Well, it could have been the butler or professor plum.” she said, smiling.
“What the, this isn’t Clue! You’re so lame sometimes!” I said, trying not to laugh.
“Awe, that’s not nice. Well what did you want to talk to me about?” she asked.
“Well, it’s Michael. I think he’s trying to get me back.”
“Michael? There’s no way in hell I am going to let you date him again.” she said, not wanting to talk about it anymore.
“I think he’s changed. He calls me all the time and stuff…” I said defensively.
“A guy that cheated on you, the way he did, does not change.” Liz said, somewhat upset.
“What do you mean, the way he did?” I asked.
“He slept with your friend, and he tried to hit on me and Marissa, don’t you dare think about giving him another chance!”
“Well it’s different for you, you don’t have to feel lonely all the time” I said, as I headed towards the bedroom. Liz just sat there, trying to think of something to say. Then she heard the phone ring.

--_--
“Hello?”
“Hey Liz, are you ok?”
“Yeah Marissa, I’m fine.”
“Oh ok, well guess what?”
“What?”
“Well I was at the studio right, and I asked the boss for a favor…”
“Eh, gross, I don’t want to know that.”
“Not that kind of a favor!”
“Oh…”
“Anyway, I arranged for Catherine to meet Hanson for her birthday tonight!”
“You’re kidding! That is like, way better than my gift. You always do that!”
“Awe, ok how about it’s from both of us?”
“That’s better.”
 “She is going to freak!”
“Ha, I know right! Just don’t say anything, and I will talk to you later.”
“Ok, love you.”
“Love you too, bye.”
--_--

Liz hung up the phone and headed towards my room.
“Honey, can I come in?”
“Sure, why not.”
“Are you mad at me?” Liz asked, as she sat next to me on the floor.
“No, I just don’t want you to be right about him.”
Liz stood up, and walked to my closet.
“What are you doing?” I asked her, curiously.
“Picking out something for you to wear” she said, smiling.
“For what” I asked.
“We’re going out tonight” she said, as she picked out a dress from the closet.
“Oh, do we have to? I don’t really…”
Liz interrupted me and said,
“Hey, you’re going! After all, it is your birthday. Now get dressed and I will see you in a couple of hours. It’s at La Via, don’t be late.”
I watched Liz as she headed out the door. When I heard the front door shut, I held up the dress she picked out for me.
Should I even go? I guess I have to…

I went to the bathroom to give my makeup a little retouch. After an hour or so, I was ready. I was about to head outside when I heard someone on my doorstep. I waited for a couple minutes to see if anyone was going to knock. No one knocked, but I still heard someone on the porch. I grabbed a bat from behind the counter and slammed open the front door yelling…
“GET YOUR ASS OUTTA HERE…” I stopped when I realized it was Michael.
Michael stood there completely taken by surprise. His arms were in the air, and he looked like he was about to faint.
“What the hell is your problem!” he yelled, walking closer to me.
“Sorry, I thought you were trying to rape me.” I said, putting the bat down.
“What the hell are you doing just chillin’ on my porch? There is such a thing as knocking on the door.” I said in defense.
“I just wanted to say Happy Birthday.” He said, giving me a hug.
“Oh, well thank you. Hey …you want to come to this club I am going to tonight?” I asked, hesitantly.
“Well, I’m sure Marissa and Liz are going to be there, so I think I’ll pass.” he said, walking down the porch steps. “Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.”
I walked with him back to his car, and waited for him to leave.
“Say Cat, I wanted to talk to you about something.” He said, leaning against the car.
I knew where this was going, so I tried to change the subject.
“I have to go, I am already running late. They’re waiting for me you know.” I said quickly.
“Oh, well it will only take a minute.” I decided I had better listen to him because there was no way of getting out of it.
“I still really like you, and you don’t have to answer now, but do you think you could give me another chance?”
“Michael, cheating on someone is something that few people ever get over.” I said, lowering my head.
“Cat, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you…just think about it ok?”
“Ok, well I really got to go.” I said, walking to my car.
“Ok, see you later.”

I can’t believe he just asked me out. I mean, I thought that was what I wanted. But now, it’s like I feel used. Oh well, I shouldn’t dwell on this. It’s my birthday and I should be happy. Yep, I am really happy.
When I arrived at the party, everyone greeted me as I walked by. They all smiled at me, so I had to force one back. You know, it’s the nice thing to do. I spotted Liz and Marissa sitting at the bar. Looks like there having a nice chat with the bartender.
I headed over to them,
“Hey guys” I said, sitting down on one of the stools.
“Hey girl, happy birthday” Liz said, hugging me.
“Thanks”
“Say Marissa, I need to talk to you for a second.”
Liz said, standing up.
“Oh, ok.” Marissa got up, and followed Liz.

“Hey doll, can I get you something to drink?” the bartender asked with a wink.
“Yeah, just give me some coke.”
He looked at me and laughed,
“Coke? Wow, you live life on the wild side.”
“Hey shut up!” I said laughing.
“Here’s your coke.” He said, as he handed me the glass.
“So, what’s your name?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. My names Catherine” I said shaking his hand.
“Oh, you’re the birthday girl?” he asked, grinning.
I smiled and replied
“Yeah, how did you know?”
“Your friends were telling me about you.”
“Oh, well I hope they didn’t say anything bad.” I said, taking a drink.
“Nah, nothing too bad…”
“Oh, good. Wait a minute, what? What do you mean not too bad?”
“just kidding.” He said smirking.
I smiled at him, and rested my head against my hand.
“You know, you’re kind of cute for a coke drinking girl.” He said, as he walked off to serve someone else.

(Marissa and Liz POV)
“Hey, is Hanson still coming?” Liz asked, curiously.
“Yeah, they should be here any minute.” Marissa said, checking her watch.
“Oh my god, I can’t wait. Catherine’s going to freak!” Liz said, excitedly.
“Yeah I know. We should go out to the front and wait for them there.” Marissa said, heading towards the door.
Marissa spotted their limo, and quickly rushed over to them. The driver got out, and went to open the side door. Isaac came out first, with Taylor and Zac behind him.
“Hey guys! I am Marissa, and this is Liz. Catherine is inside; do you think we could sneak you guys in without her noticing?”
“Well, we can try.” Isaac said smiling.
“Great, follow me.”
Marissa and Liz went in through the back, and snuck Hanson in one of the private rooms.
“So, do you guys know what you’re doing and everything?” Marissa asked.
“Well to be honest, not really.” Taylor said, chuckling.
Marissa smiled and said
“Well after the band out there now is done, they will tell you to come on stage. Then you guys will sing to Catherine.”
“Well, how do we know which ones Catherine?” Zac asked.
“The light will be on her when they announce that she has a surprise coming.”
“Ok, got it.” Taylor said, reassuring himself. Marissa walked over to Zac.
“Hey, you think you could dance with Catherine or have a conversation with her?”
“Oh so I’m her favorite out of the group?” he said grinning.
“Now don’t you be planning anything Mr., because Catherine will probably do it!” she said, laughing.
“Hey, I am an innocent little angel.” Zac said, trying to be convincing.
“Yeah angel my ass” Marissa said walking off.
“We’re going to go sit with Catherine now.”
“Thank you so much for coming you guys. It really means a lot.” Liz said, as she headed towards the door.
“No problem at all.” Isaac said.

(Marissa and Liz)

“Issacs pretty cute” Liz said in a whisper.
“What? I remember when Catherine first started liking them and you said he had a big head.” Marissa said, crossing her arms. “Thinking about cheating on Adam already huh?”
"Oh we aren't serious or anything, besides I can look."
“Oh there’s Catherine lets go”

Chapter 3

(Catherine POV)

I didn’t want to sit at the bar by myself any longer, so I went to look for someone I knew, or someone I wanted to talk to. Then I saw Marissa and Liz heading my way.
“Hey guys, what’s up?”
“Hey, come and sit with us.” Marissa said, pointing to a table.
“Ok” I said, walking behind them. When we got to the table, I sat down, and looked at Liz.
“You ok Liz?” I asked.
“Yeah, I am great! I like the bands they have here…don’t you?”
 “Um they’re alright, why?”
“I was just wondering. That would be cool if someone you really liked was playing here tonight…”
Marissa face flared up, and she kicked Liz under the table.

“Yeah…is someone onstage going to sing me happy birthday?”
“They might, Liz said smiling.”
“Oh great...” I said, sarcastically.
“Hey, the announcers going to say something” Liz said, pointing to the stage.
Marissa was just about ready to slap Liz upside the head.
“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for coming. I want everyone to give a round of applause to the lovely, Miss Catherine Ice!”
“I can’t believe they did this” I said blushing and covering my face.
“Now let’s hear a little bit about her, shall we? I got a card here that her best friends gave to me.” He reached in his pocket, and pulled out a note card.
 “You guys!” I said, shocked”
It says: “Catherine you’ve been our friend for about 15 years now, and we love you to death. So, we planned something special for you tonight and I hope you enjoy it.”
Everyone gave a round of applause, as the announcer continued to read.
“It also says, and I quote,
“She has an unhealthy obsession with the band Hanson.”
 “Hum, is that right?”
The announcer looked to his right and said
“Hey guys, come on out!”
They couldn’t have…I thought to myself.
Then, Hanson walked out from behind the curtains. They were all smiling, as Taylor gave the announcer a pat on his shoulder and took the microphone from his hand. I jumped out of my chair screaming.
Zac smiled at me, and everyone started singing happy birthday.
“Oh my god, I love you guys so much!”
The time drifted by so fast. It was already midnight, and the boys were in the back getting ready to leave. Marissa came over, and sat next to me.
“So, how did you like the present?” she asked, grinning.
“I am so happy, thank you so much.”
“Well, I got some more good news…”
“What?”
“Well, there waiting backstage…why don’t you go talk to them?”
“Are you serious? Oh my god, you got to be kidding me.”
Marissa smiled, as she stood up.
“Catch you later” she said, getting up from the table.

“You got to be kidding!” ok Catherine, calm down. You don’t want them to think you’re an idiot do you? Of course not, so just walk in there, and give them a hug. No screaming…right... that easier said than done.
I headed towards the backstage doors, and took a deep breath before I went inside. I saw Taylor drinking water, and fanning himself as he sat in a chair. Isaac was lying on the couch, dazing off from lack of sleep. But then I focused my attention on Zac. He took his shirt off, and grabbed his CD player from the desk.
“Man, he’s hot” I said biting my lower lip.
Zac turned around, and smiled at me.
Did I just say that out loud? Oh that was smart Catherine that was really smart. Just don’t look at him.
“Hey Catherine, nice to finally meet you” Zac said, walking towards me.
God, he is so cute. Look at his smile, forget the smile, and look at his crotch! No don’t do that, he’ll know…
“Um…nice to meet you too” I said, feeling a little awkward.
Come on, do something. Don’t just stand there. Give him a hug, or at least move.
Zac, sensing my tension, wrapped his arms around me. I thought I was about to faint. He let go after awhile, and stared at me again.
“So, you’re the obsessed fan Marissa has been telling me about.”
“Well, I wouldn’t say obsessed…more like…ok yeah, obsessed is a good word.”
Zac looked at me, and I felt my knees weaken. I can’t believe I am standing in front of the hottest man ever. I snapped back to reality when I heard him talking.
“What? What did you say?” I asked, trying to take my eyes away from his body.
“Would you like to go to dinner with me tomorrow night?”
“….you want to go out…with me?”
“Yeah, I mean if you want to. If you don’t, I’ll understand.”
“Of course I’ll go!” I said excitedly.
After realizing my sudden outburst, I quickly added
“I mean sure, …that sounds…fun.”
“Great…could I have your number?”
I grabbed a pen from the table next to me, and found a piece of paper in my purse.
“Here ya go.” I said, handing him the paper.
I can’t believe this is actually happening.
I spent about twenty minutes talking to Ike, Tay, And Zac, and then I realized that it was getting really late…or early, however you want to look at it. So we said our goodbyes, and I caught up with Marissa, and Liz back at the house.
(At The House)
“You guys are the best!” I said, as I walked through the front door.
“How did you set this up?
Liz looked at Marissa, because she had no idea how it happened either.
“Well, I just asked my boss to get in touch with them. I found out he knew them, because he told us a story about his daughter’s sixteenth birthday party, and how they performed at it.”
“Yeah, that’s how…” Liz said, walking into the kitchen to get a drink.
“That’s so cool. Oh and guess what? Zac asked me out on a date!”
“What? I just told him to have a conversation with you, he must think your super cute!”
“I’m going to be so nervous! Maybe I shouldn’t go…”
“What? After all I did to set this up; there is no way your backing out.”
“But…all you did was ask your boss to make a call”
“…that’s not the point.”
“Well of course I am going to go…its Zac Hanson! But if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t go.”
“Oh that makes a lot of sense.”
“I know right…anyway, I need sleep. I have to look beautiful for Zac tomorrow!”
I went into the bedroom, put on my lingerie, and tried to go to sleep. I was so excited about tomorrow. It is going to be great.

7:45 am
Slowly, I woke up. A constant ringing echoed inside my head. What time is it, I thought to myself. I looked at the clock, but my vision was blurred. I rubbed my eyes, 7:45? Finally, I answered the phone,

“Hello?” I said, yawning
“Hey Cat, did I wake you?”
“…who is this?”
“It’s Michael…”
“Oh…hey Michael, sorry about that”
“It’s ok, how did the party go last night?”
“It was great; you won’t believe what Marissa and Liz did for me.”
“What happened?”
“They got Hanson to perform there”
“No way, that’s awesome.”
“Yeah…”
“Did you get to meet them?”
“Yeah and ….um”
“What?”
“And…it was awesome…”
“Yeah…I bet. Did anything else happen? I mean did they flirt with you or anything?”
“Ha, no…they were really nice, and we just talked…”
“Why do I get the feeling you’re not telling me something…?”
“What do you mean?”

“Nothing…”
“So was there anything you wanted to tell me, or…you just wanted to talk?”
“Well I kind of wanted to see if you thought about what I said last night…”
“Yeah…well I thought about it…and I just don’t think it’s a good idea…”
“What? Why not…”
“Uh, I just think that you kind of ruined your chance.”
“That’s fucked up Cat, I said I changed. I’ve done all this stuff for you, I cleaned up my act, and you’re not even going to give me a chance to show you…”
“I’m sorry; just…let me think about it ok?”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell. I just really like you Cat.”
“It’s ok; I’ll talk to you later ok?”
“Ok, love you.”
“Bye.”

(Michael’s POV)

“What the hell is her problem? Why is she holding back like this…? There must be something going on…and I know just how to find out…”

Michael picked up the phone, and called Liz.

--_--

“Hello?”
“Hey Liz, its Michael”
“What do you want?”
“Don’t be like that; I just want to ask you a question.”
“What?”
“Are you going to be at your house later tonight?”
“Why?”
“Well I wanted to stop by, and talk to Cat alone…”
“She isn’t going to be there…”
“Why not, is she going with you?”
“No, she is going out with Zac tonight.”
“What, who the hell is Zac?”
“Zac Hanson, she met him last night and he asked her out on a date.”
“What? So that’s what she didn’t want to tell me!”
“…she didn’t? Shit.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t say anything”
“I’ll tell her the next time I talk to her.”
“Yeah…well thanks for everything. I will talk to you later ok?”
“Uh, ok bye.”
“Bye.”

(Zac Hanson POV)

“Hey Isaac, come here for a minute…”
“Why don’t you ever ask me to come here?” Taylor asked feeling a little neglected.
“You’d probably make fun of me…”
“You always say that!”
“And you always do it…”
“Come on, what are you doing?”
“Well…I wanted to see which suit you think I should wear. Come here and look at them.”
They all walked into Zac’s room, and he held up the two suits.

“Do you like the black suit with the green tie and buttons? Or the one that’s just all black…”
“I like the green one” Isaac said, taking it from Zac.
“Don’t you think so Tay?”
“Why are you worrying about your outfit? …Is it because of that girl?” Tay said, grinning.
“See, you always do that.”
“What? I was just asking.”
“Well you still didn’t answer the question.”
“I like the green one, and you didn’t answer my question.”
“Maybe I do like her…”
“Awe, that’s so cute!”
Zac rolled his eyes, and grabbed the green suit from Isaac.
“But seriously dude, wear the green one.”
“Alright”
“You didn’t forget about the interview today did you?” Isaac asked.
“Um…no, of course I didn’t.”
“Well I hope you also remembered it’s at four, so don’t be late. You can call Catherine when you get home…which should be around six or earlier.”
“I think I will call her now…just to tell her.”
“No! That’s a bad idea” Taylor said, budding into the conversation.
“Why?”
“Well you don’t want her to think you’re desperate…”
“She won’t think that…”
“Yeah, just call her. I bet you she’s waiting by the phone.” Isaac said, glaring at Taylor.
“Come on Tay, I have something to show you in the living room.”
“What is it?”
“Would you just move your ass!”

Isaac and Taylor walked into the living room, shutting the door behind them.
“What was that about?” Taylor asked confused.
“Zac is finally getting over Alexia, so don’t say anything that will make him have second thoughts about this girl.”
“Dude, you’re acting like he’s thirteen years old. Alexa was a whore, and Zac’s going to have to deal with that.”
“Shh, I know. But what if he thinks that Catherine is the same way as Alexa? You think he would start dating again?”
“I don’t know…” Taylor said, heading towards his bedroom.
“…just don’t say anything that could make him have second thoughts.”
“Fine” Taylor said, halfway up the stairs.
“Hey wait, you going to be at the interview early this time right?”
“Yes Isaac.”
“Good, I don’t want anyone yelling at me again.”
“Ok.”
“Taylor?”
“Yes Isaac?”

"There's something else I wanted to talk to you about..."

"What?"
“Are you being careful?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I was just wondering. I don’t want you getting anyone pregnant.”
“What I do is my business!”
“Hey, I’m just trying to look out for you. There are a lot of dieses out there.”
“You are not serious…” Taylor walked down the stairs and stood right in front of Isaac.
“What?”
“Who said that I’ve had sex before?”
“Oh come on! I am not that stupid.”
“Name someone.”
“What about you’re ex girlfriend Tiffany?”
“I didn’t sleep with her; we just had some fun in the bedroom.”
“Well while you having your fun, make sure you use protection.”
“…your jealous aren’t you?”
“of what?”
“You liked Tiffany, and you are mad that she wanted me and not you.”
“I just think that there is more to a woman than sex.”
“And I don’t?”
“Obviously not you have a different girl every week; Michelle, Stacey, Jennifer, Tonya….”
“Just call me when you’re on the way to the interview.”
“pfft whatever man just go to your room and ignore everyone like you always do.”
“You’re the one who is good at that, not me.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Well while your listing names how about Stacey, Linda, and who could forget Rachael…”
“Leave Rachael out of this”
“You knew you were falling for her, so you let her go. Talk about me being heartless.”
“Never mind, I am sorry I even mentioned this.”
“You can’t even deal with the fact that you let her go.”
“Taylor get away from me, I mean it!”
“Why don’t you take your own advice? When you find out that there is more to a woman than just sex, then maybe you can talk to me.”
Right then Taylor saw a glimpse of rage in Isaacs eyes. Taylor backed up and Issac grabbed an end table and threw it against the wall, smashing it to pieces.
“Hey, you need to calm down…”
Taylor walked over to Isaac and tried to comfort him somehow. He put his hand on his shoulder but Isaac jerked his body away.
“Get off me”
Zac came out of his room after hearing the crash of the end table against the wall.
“What’s going on?”
“I didn’t mean anything I said.” Taylor said, looking at Issac.
Isaac just stood there clenching his fists together.
After a long pause, Issac mumbled
“You’re right, if I would have treated her better…”
“...wait a minute, she dumped you?”
Isaac was still focused on the wall.
“She’s missing out" Taylor said with sincerity.
“What’s going on out here? Isaac, are you ok?” Zac said, concerned.
“I just want to be alone!” Isaac said, walking to his room and slamming the door behind him.
“What did you say to him Taylor?”
